when we decided to take a detour
to show you our lake
Another glimpse of the town
Lake Eildon
the fullest it's been since 1996
Now at 80% capacity;
one year taken down as low as 8%
Power lines rocketed to the other side
There are 800 houseboats on the lake
It has a 515km shoreline
and is seven times bigger than Sydney Harbour
We back-tracked to our destination
- here's the 21st C wheelbarrow
with its 19th C wheel
- our friend can turn his hand to anything!
And to a delectable dinner
of salads, smoked trout
and yabbies

Betsy...yes, the yabby is a small freshwater crayfish. Some were smoked over Mountain Ash shavings, while the others were boiled in malt vinegar with garlic and chives....all very tasty!
Maggie....glad to brighten your day! We still have hot days but this week have experienced some early autumnal days...Autumn begins on March 1st.
The trout were caught in the Goulburn River nearby.
I'm so glad you took the long route. What a lake... beautiful. And your friend's place... I love the landscaping. And the food looks divine. Another couple of weeks and I'll have asparagus. Sadly, no Yabbies.
Don't know yabbies, but that plateful of yummies sure looks delish. And thanks for the beauty of the pics that brought us to it!!
Steven Cain...their garden is magnificent; all their own planning and hard work. Asparagus is a favourite of mine. My uncle grew it for the market years ago.
Your countryside looks beautiful. I especially like that breathtaking first photo: it makes me think of 19th Century watercolours of Australian landscapes, complete with picturesque gum trees in the foreground.

dancingbeastie...it is a pretty place. Those gums in the photo are giants growing on a very steep slope.

What a lovely place you inhabit! The dinner looked delectable. Lucky you! We are looking at around two to three feet of new snow. I kind of like it though. It's cleansing.
The lake views were gorgeous, especially under that cloud filled sky. So enjoyed the views of the area, Alaine!
Wow, now that is some lake! beautiful. It reminds me of looking down lochness! Those are truly beautiful , breathtaking views you are showing us. I had not heard of yabbies before & had to look that one up! Yum.
