I'M IDLE

Artist: Daniel Gabriel Rossetti

I'm idle, as osmanthus flowers fall,
This quiet night in spring, the hill is empty.
The moon comes out and startles the birds on the hill,
They don't stop calling in the spring ravine.

Wang Wei

Birds calling in the ravine

Steven, thanks. I was looking for a comtemplative poem but came across Wang Wei and one of his poems fitted the season; the woman hearing the birds calling in the ravine.

Just love the combination of Rossetti and Wang Wei here, Alaine... Spring is a good time for idling... Happy Days :o)

Hi Alaine,

That first line is enough to make anyone feel lazy! Nice combination.

Tracy, housework today but I'm listening to a selection of Schubert streaming through the Naxos music library - absolutely beautiful. I've had a selection of Beethoven, Mozart and Elgar this morning while I work!

Willow, Derrick and Nancy, I'm so grateful for Steven's introduction to these ancient Chinese poets.

Hi Alaine

you have made a great marriage of these two...Aren't we lucky to have Steven to have taken us back into China's past...

Happy days

Hi Delwyn, certainly are. Funnily, I wasn't looking for Wang Wei but stumbled across the name on poetseer and thought, 'I know that name'.
