On this day, Anzac Day, we remember the soldiers of Australia and New Zealand, who fought for their country in WW1. The fourth stanza of Laurence Binyon's poem, "For the Fallen", above, is read at 6pm every night in our Returned and Services Leagues clubs, followed by a minute's silence.

You have posted a wonderful image for this day. Strangely, we did not know that what we term 'Armistice Day' was remembered differently in Australia and New Zealand.
Within the UK the fallen of both World Wars is remembered at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month when it is customary to observe two minutes' silence. The lines from Binyon's poem are usually read in church services on the Sunday nearest to the 11th. But you most likely know of this.
What is important, in our view, is that we continue to remember.

Jane and Lance....Many thanks. We have two, Anzac Day on 25th April and Remembrance Day on 11th November, as your Armistice Day, remembering all servicemen from WW1 on.
We are attending a service in our town later on this morning and I expect a huge attendance as it coincides with Easter this year.
theoldboathouse...thank you for visiting and leaving a comment. We've just returned from the service in town...I couldn't sing the anthem as I was too choked up! Take me to church or a ceremony and I just bawl! There was a good attendance and the scouts, fire brigade, Vic police and RSL members marched in.
