Shooting Stars....

This past week we had a visit from Ashton Kutcher, who was here for the Melbourne Premiere of his movie 'Killers'.  Stopping off in Sydney first, he visited a wildlife park and tickled a koala.  "Koalas have two thumbs, that kind of freaked me out.  Imagine how fast you could text with two thumbs", he said.

More of my vintage was the presence of dishy Robert de Niro, here filming his latest spy thriller, 'The Killer Elite'.

His scenes, as 'a wily veteran assassin' were shot at several locations in Melbourne and producers were able to depict Paris, London and Oman.

Shooting was ahead of schedule and Robert fled Melbourne's winter for a holiday in Bali with his wife and son.

mm-mmmmmm!

DeNiro...mmmmm. I do love him so. Great photos of these guys...did you actually get this close to them to take these? Not sure about their movies though...haven't seen them. Didn't know this about the Koala's thumbs. Cute little buggers aren't they? I wonder are they as sweet as they look...or do they bite? Hope you're enjoying your weekend. xo

MG..Karen, you haven't seen a de Niro film?! I can say the same about Kutcher; never seen one of his. No, I didn't take these shots; credits below.

No, Koalas are not vicious (they're mostly drunk on eucalypt leaves!) but often wee on people when getting a cuddle and you have to watch those claws!

Sitting with my back to the sun coming in the window, stitching and listening to BBC Cornwall!

Alaine--What nice photos of the two of them. I have only seen Mel Gibson in person, once in SF when we were touring an art gallery with school and he was donating to the gallery. His press hasn't been too good lately though. Thanks for the comments over on my blog the other day. I guess it will just remain a mystery to you and me why we don't have those people in our lives any longer. Especially if they won't talk about it with us...how can you ever be expected to fix anything without communication. Winter sounds so good right now. It has cooled down a bit here though. Thank heaven for that! Enjoy your cross stitching. Sounds like fun to me.

Teri...ooh, nasty Mel, he is in a lonely place right now!

I'm sorry that you've lost someone else close to you...I don't know what age you are but there comes a time when it has to happen. I've written two condolence cards in recent weeks.

We've had a few lovely days and seems like the rest of the week will be the same...don't know where the rain is! It's been very cold despite the sun.

Hi Alaine,

Oooh, I'm liking deNiro's scruffy, bearded look. He's aging well. I have a nephew who resembles him...tough guy mode, he's a prison guard.

Ashton Kutcher seems very likeable. Most of his movies are pretty lightweight, though.

It's been very hot and humid here, but no rain. We were supposed to get storms last night, but I think it went around us. Looks like I'll have to water my veggies again.

Hi Alaine,

Will you still speak to us I wonder?! Ashton looks almost as cute as the koala! Are you telling me they made Melbourne look like London, Paris and Oman??!! Must be the weather.

Mmm-mmm-mmmm is right! How very fun! :)

Susan...I'm yet to see Ashton in action..cute must get him by. And yes, Robert is still very appealing!

Hot and humid seems eons away while I sit here shivering, just out of bed. The rain misses us a lot, living in a valley; leaves me grumbling.

Derrick...how long has it been since you've been to Melbourne?

Betsy...YOU know what I mean! haha

How wonderful it must have been to have all those stars around, sounds like a lot of fun! And wait...they made *Melbourne* look like *London*. Wow, this is impressive.

Sam...yes, the old town was jumping with celeb....Melbourne looking like London...well, that's what they say...we'll have to see the movie!
