Hey! Duck for cover!!

I always think these guys are
going to crash into our house!
He's heading our way!

.... Or have a mid-air collision;
there's always 3 or 4 of them!

They usually appear on a Sunday afternoon,
just when one is looking forward to a siesta
or a quiet read...

I do wonder though;
.... it would be an exhilirating experience!

Keep them safe.

Wow, it must be really wonderful to have those travellers flying above your house. I'd love to do it, it looks thrilling, but I think my fear of heights would prevent me! That last photographs looks really magical, there something mystical about it :D

I would love to try that sometime.

Sam...thanks for visiting. Yes, the last shot does look magical, without the noise! I nearly fell over backwards taking it!

Alaine--I love the header. Did you take that photo and if so, is that close to where you live? Very beautiful. Are these "flyers" manned with an engine or are they just parachuting down? We live close to an airport (small) and we get these aircraft that are basically a lawnmower engine with a person inside! Kind of scary if they don't know what they are doing I suppose.

Nancy... really?! Ooh no, not for me! I reckon you'd be safer jumping out of a plane with a parachute! My heart leaps every time they take off.

Teri...hi. The header shot was taken from a courtyard just off the kitchen; that's the view I get from the kitchen bench!

They're called 'gyrocopters' and are very noisy; yes, just sounds like a lawnmower! They take off from behind the house across the road; the neighbor has a plane and all the works of a mini-airport!

It does look magical and wonderful but also just a bit on the absolutely frightening side!

Your mention of a siesta was much more appealing to me!

Marion...haha, yes, it was just after lunch last Monday (which was a holiday here for Anzac Day) and we were sitting down, having a read, when this unholy noise shattered the peace! Three of them buzzing around for well over an hour; I wouldn't have thought they'd have enough fuel for that long. Oh well, we have more peace than noise here, so I shouldn't complain.

i've got a problem with flying in big planes but strangely i'd really like to try these little flying machines! nice of you to wish them safe. steven

Steven...oooh, I liken them to those mini-parachute things people hold on to and run and jump off a cliff! Courting trouble!

Wow, you live in fine sweeping territory. We have some annoying ATV's that like to race along a nearby gravel pit on Sunday afternoons.

Gosh, that looks fun! Back 20 years ago, when the manor was considered in the country, we used to have a hot air balloon group that would fly over our house about once a month. It would scare the crap, literally, out of our dog!

Do they do tandem flying? If they do, you should definitely try it. I would!

Love your new look!

Hi Alaine,

At least with the engine there ought to be a greater degree of control. The para-gliders seem to have some alarming escapades! Typical, though, that with acres of open sky, they choose to blight your air space!

Willow....hilarious! We had one land in the street out front where we used to live. Honestly! They used to fly up our Yarra Valley but somehow this one must have run out of gas this particular morning.

alaine@éclectique said...

Paul...that's a given, just when you're looking for some peace!

Susan...tandem flying? At my age? Although there used to be an old lady here, in her 80s, who loved parachuting! She was a wag!

Derrick... I watched a documentary yesterday about a guy who is into base jumping; now that has to be someone with a definite death wish!

I'd be grumpy about these flying over my house...bit of an intrusion. The header picture...view from your kitchen bench is amazing.
I can see the leaves beginning to change color there...beautiful.

MG....yes, we have colourful carpets all about and we're getting some good rain at present. Cold mornings and mushrooms popping up everywhere! A very comfortable season for me.

I'm thinking it would be very nice for you to try this and let us know how you liked it..oh, c'mon!!

Lyn...haha, I doubt it would get off the ground! :D
