"Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile" - William Cullen Bryant

and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns."

a running flame through the mountains,
a torch flung to the trees."

Your compilation of photos and quotes to celebrate the season are wondrous. Thanks for the paradigm shift amidst bursting buds in Ontario.

I love your autumnal photos and beautiful golden background color to accompany them!

Betsy...mine too; spring comes close though.

alaine@éclectique said...

Steven....I should imagine that spring would be most welcome after the snow has worn out its welcome!

Hello Willow, thank you and yes, a warm colour for the cold weeks ahead but you know me, always changing things! Happy Spring!

Super pics and words, Alaine. Many of our trees are still struggling to burst their buds!

There is exceptional beauty in every season...but being in a northern climate, it is Spring that brings joy and rejuvenation so easily for me and Autumn, a very close second gives me a feeling of contentment and thankfulness!
Wonderful photos and quotes, Alaine!

Thanks, Derrick! I'll bet you welcome spring after snow for too long!

Wanda, thank you. I wandered around with my new mobile phone a few days back and made my first video 'production'. I still have to figure how to save it to PC and publish but I'm not in a hurry!

Since I posted, so many more leaves have fallen and we're getting some very welcome rain!

So redundant, but so true...spring is everywhere and it is a wonderful celebration. But seeing your autumn pictures makes me all nostalgic for that time of year and for the

"flaming torches
lighting the way to winter."

What a lovely blog you have here!

Marion....thank you. I've just come in from a long walk in the brisk, autumn air; our town looks so pretty with colour all around. I'll pay you a visit now. Cheers, ♥a

We went to Tennessee for a while so I am catching up now with my blogging friends. You know, the pictures in your post “our home yesterday” could be a scene from Tennessee where there are rolling hills too. I’ll post some pics on it in my next post. Interesting information about the ha-ha walls. Your autumn photos and quotes are beautiful. I like all the seasons really but prefer autumn – the colors, the weather getting cooler, it has a more “homey” feeling. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Loved all the pictures and all of the quotes. Autumn is my favorite time of year. Your part of the world is slowing down, preparing for slumber, and mine is just waking up.

alaine@éclectique said...

Vagabonde...definitely a more 'homey' feel in Autumn; we're going to light our first fire today, this morning is quite crisp! Thanks for visiting, I'll look forward to seeing your rolling hills.

alaine@éclectique said...

Nancy...that's the way I see the seasons too.

Lyn...thank you. I'll bet Central Park is coming back to life! I so wished we'd taken a cab up there earlier in the day but I did see it from the Top of the Rock!

Beautiful post, Alaine! Here's one you didn't include:

Autumn is Spring's flashy sister!

I just made that up. ;)
