Glad, mad and waiting...

Jeanne Tripplehorn - Big Love

I'm very happy that Big Love is back on free-to-air television. It's been a favourite all along. But I'm not happy that Madmen has now gone to pay-TV; I was just getting into that show! There's a new one being advertised at the moment, The Goodwife, with Chris Noth (Sex and the City) and Julianna Marguilies (ER) featured in the clip. I wonder whether it will turn out to be just another courtroom drama series?

Being retired, all we have these days apart from a lot of work outside, is our computers and television. That's not quite right; DMJ has his fishing, photography, flytying and workshops and I hold the fort when he goes off to do a show! We live in the country, have a picture theatre 25km away but it only puts on a film every couple of months. Our favourites are documentaries but occasionally quirky shows like the above come along. I tape late night movies; no blurb to read, I just go on the title and where it was made. Some turn out to be OK but most are a waste of time.

This isn't going anywhere; just talking out loud....... I've lost the plot, off the boil, can't get excited about anything lately........

Thank you, Steve, you're so kind. I think I'll just read your blog every day (and not comment) to lift my spirit.

I haven't watched Big Love yet but a friend of mine raves about it. I'm just finishing 'The 19th Wife' by David Ebershoff so I'm immersed in polygamy.

I find that I'm home quite a bit, reading, watching TV or movies and keeping track of my 17 year old. But, at some point, he'll move on and I'll be able to come and go as I please.

Hello Blackbird, lovely to hear from you. That book sounds intriguing, I'll make a note of it to add to my little drawer full of notes re books I want to read! I'm on my second book for the year, which is amazing as the book before them took about three months to read!

When your son flies the coop, you won't know yourself!

Hi Alaine,

I get lots of days like that! Mad Men will be making an appearance on one of the BBC digital channels very soon though don't know whether I shall watch it. We record things all the time, then have to find time to watch! Enjoy the books.

Have to pay for Big Love...so...Mad Men, always up against Masterpiece Theatre..I go with Mast...
Now as for The Good Wife..an intelligent take on courtroom..the characters are smart and close to being human! Julianna Marguiles is wifey..just got the Golden Globe for role..so there!! And Chris Noth..still not bad...

Hi Lyn, I'll give Good Wife a look when it gets here and Chris Noth, loved him as Big in Sex in the City. Another one we have to pay for this year is Desperate Housewives; I watch it for a giggle, hubby doesn't understand it - that is doesn't understand the show or me watching it!
