A Resolution...

He who every morning plans the transaction of the day
and follows out that plan,
carries a thread that will guide him through
the maze of the most busy life.

But where no plan is laid,
where the disposal of time is surrendered
merely to the chance of incidence,
chaos will soon reign.

Victor Hugo

alaine - this is interesting because i treasure those days when chance can reign. i feel that in leaving myself open to possibilities, things can happen that were, yes unplanned, but also necessary in some way i couldn't have planned for. steven

That is lovely. It speaks to why I feel I must make out a list of activities for each day.

So, to plan or not to plan? I guess each of us is naturally inclined one way!

Steven...I like days like that also but, at the end of the day, if I haven't achieved anything, I think it's been wasted somehow.

Mason...yes, they say live each day to the full but in the planning I make sure it includes some quiet time and a read!

I do so much better with a plan and a list. Although, the occassional day left to chance is fun, it wouldn't work as a regular routine for me. I have never heard that quote before...very nice!

Betsy...I'm smiling because I know that you'd definitely have to put plans in place with five men to take care of!

If the plan for the day includes going to that great location, I am there with you right now! Maybe if I make that part of my bucket list (it seems to be getting longer and longer!) it will happen.

Teri...it's quite hot here; I could do with a dip in the Mediterranean right now! Let's go!

I like chaos...

Nancy...ahaha, it CAN be exciting, gets the heart racing...as long as all returns to normal without too much damage!

In Leonardo's final home, the Clos Lucé in the Loire region, there are plaques displaying his "wisdom." One says, "Ne pas prevoir, c'est déjà gémir." = Not to plan ahead, is to start moaning in advance. !

le style et la matière....true and there's another one of his, "a well-spent day brings happy sleep"...
