He's eating... I suppose that's a good sign. But where are his feathers? Is this explained in a post I have yet to read?

I have to ask... the birds are beautiful, and I would love to have them visiting my home... but how often do you have to hose down you patio and furniture? I had swallows nest in (on) my back porch, and they were so much fun, but what a mess from such tiny creatures.

Such beautiful photos. The birds are wonderful. Your photos are especially lovely this morning as I look out my window at about 6 inches of snow. Thanks for sharing.

Steven...I was sitting around after dinner just watching them and thought, "that deserves to be snapped!"

Derrick...ahaha and they're so polite!

Steven Cain...it's a disease called PBFD, Psittacane & Feather Disease - "Psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD) is a viral disease that can affect all psittacine birds (Parrots, Cockatoos and Lorikeets) and possibly, Doves. The virus attacks the cells of the immune system and those which produce feather and beak. Affected birds gradually lose their feathers and develop beak abnormalities. Because the virus attacks the immune system, affected birds succumb to infection by other diseases. The disease occurs in captive and wild birds and probably originated from Australia, for it is now found in psittacine birds in Europe and America."

Unfortunately they do make such a mess but, as my husband feeds them, it is his job to hose down and keep me happy!

Nancy...Scruff knew his name; we saw him at the bird-feeder, called out to him and he flew over to the table. We thought we'd lost him months ago.

I cannot believe how wonderful it must be to have these wonderful birds right outside your house. This is something I would never see here. How nice that Scruff came back. He knows!

Teri...the dear little thing knows to get out of the rain too...he stands under the eaves, while the others just sit in the teeming rain.

Good grief, I've had days I felt like that bird looks.
