Lost in a pile of leaves...

We spend most of our time and energy in a kind of horizontal thinking.  We move along the surface of things but there are times when we stop.  We sit still.  We lose ourselves in a pile of leaves or its memory.  We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper.

Interesting to think about vertical, horizontal, one precious spot thinking. A balance is probably ideal?

Steven...it's nice to come across a quote or a poem that sums up exactly where you are at that time and have it expressed better than what you could ever do yourself! Your blog does that many times for me; I might not comment but take it all in and say, 'hallelujah'.

Paul C...a balance would be ideal but mostly unattainable...

Leaves! Who could resist losing yourself in a pile of leaves. They are the most wonderful thing in the Fall, all crunchy and colorful. A great metaphor for life, don't you think? Those whispers...

Maybe we should sit still more often.

What a beautiful thought .. important to stop at times and just listen and look at what is around us.. i know I feel that way when I go out with the camera... I get sidetracked into minute worlds that I other times may not notice...

Thanks for visiting and your kind comments.. You know those snapshots of Italy were 14 years ago.. but some places are burned in my memory.. and then I have shots that I have no idea... but I look at the back of the print and try and work out what sequence # it belongs too.. haha.. technical stuff!!!

Have a lovely weekend.. ciao xxx Julie

Oh.. forgot to say.. SCRUFF is fabulous!! haha.. love those cockatoos and try for shots often.. but SCRUFF... he is a winner!!! Is he wild or a pet?

And.. the snake post.. Last year when we had that red dust storm.. we had a red bellied black snake in the city... under a car... caused all sorts of commotion and they never did manage to catch it..

Ok.. off again.. ciao

Very inspiring and a good reminder for this weekend. Taking time to look and listen to life a little differently.

Teri...We have a huge tree here we sit under in all seasons; we'll have to call it 'the listening tree'. And the leaves; we never rake them up, just watch them get blown around.

Julie...thanks so much for visiting; I love your happy blog and your photography is amazing! We've visited Italy twice, second time last November...I just love that country; we've seen only a smidgen of it and lap up those documentaries on SBS!! :)

Scruff is a treat and we marvel at him turning up every day. He gives a little chirp to get our attention and we know he's arrived! When he's finished one lump of bread, he chirps again, so funny. Yes, definitely a wild one!

Wasn't that dust storm amazing! I did a post on it somewhere here...Ciao, ciao!
