ZERO

I took this photo six days ago
just as we were leaving
for our morning walk.

It was 0C (32F) at 7:10am
and an hour later only 2C.

If you enlarge it
you can see that the flash
captured the ice in the atmosphere.

I love how the lemon tree is highlighted.

My, that really is an eerily magnificent photograph, there is something so haunting and yet so infinitely beautiful about it...The lighting, the swishing of the trees, the ice, the lemon tree and the dark sky, they all come together to create a truly brilliant scene. Thank you for sharing this marvellous image :)

Eerie...yet so tranquil and beautiful. Will you be picking the lemons on the lemon tree soon? And what might you do with them?
Love love love the new look of your blog. The colors are so soft and earthy. Blogger has made it fun to switch it up a bit.

Sam...thanks. I was disappointed with it at first but then I realised that it was worth keeping.

MG - Karen, love your new avatar! I don't know what to do with the lemons; it's the most we've ever had.

Thanks about the new look; I was very happy with it. There's a great range to choose from now.

T...it does look like a painting, doesn't it.

Susan...I think we've awoken to another frost this morning but we'll be walking again.

Wanda...yes, I thought Monet!

Wow, cold! I am surprised that lemons do well in that kind of cold. Maybe you can just juice them all and freeze the juice...make lemon meringue pies, lemon curd, lemon aid, yum! I saw all the new blog details and wonder if it would totally change everything. It looks different to come here but I like it too.

Teri...I must pick them. I thought of Lemon Butter but there's only two of us and it wouldn't get used. I don't use lemons in cooking much at all; I don't like them much. There is a bin in the main street where people can take or give; I might put them in there.

Thanks for your suggestions; I had a look at Martha Stewart's recipe for Lemon Curd, it sounds nice, I just might give that a go and squeeze a few for the freezer.

I loved the black background of my blog but this is nice and fresh for a change.

Certainly is a beautiful photo and I agree with you, it is so lovely how the lemon tree stands out so clearly. Love it.

Marilyn...thank you for visiting! I see that you live in beautiful New Zealand. I haven't been there yet but my husband has had many trout expeditions over there and loves it. He's already been twice this year. When I go with him one day, there'll be very little fishing!

I've just been out there mowing; it's lovely and sunny here (frosty mornings) but the grass was so soggy. I passed the lemon tree and made a mental note to go and pick the lemons; I must go and do that now!

Cheers,
Alaine

A beautiful, painterly photo. So strange to think of you in freezing weather as we celebrate the summer solstice, when it barely gets dark at all here in Scotland. Mind you, our local paper today had photos of people skiing and snowboarding on Cairn Gorm in the Highlands - on midsummer's day! Our winter was so epic that pockets of deep snow are still lingering on the hills, despite our temperatures being in the mid 20s/70s now.
