Reflection...

"I read and walked for miles along the beach, writing bad blank verse and
searching endlessly for someone wonderful who would
step out of the darkness and change my life.
It never crossed my mind that that person could be me."

I love Anna Quindlen and she's so right. We're all ultimately responsible for our own happiness.

Susan...to be perfectly honest, I've just found her and will go and read more about her.

Steven...it is a very real quote and the photo I took today; funny how I've walked past that cheval so many times and never noticed that charming reflection through the door.

We are free to make choices about our outlook on life!

I've read two of Quindlen's novels, "Every Last One", about love and grief and "One True Thing", about a daughter's relationship with her terminally ill mother.

Ah...great quote. I remember feeling this way when I was in my twenties...and not getting it until much later.

I love how all of a sudden we see something in a different light and how much more special it is to us at that moment. Sometimes the simplest things can mean the most to us, don't you think? Cherish each moment and enjoy the small things in life. There are so many magical moments in our lives. We just have to become aware of them.

Teri...that is something that hits me in the face constantly; the small things matter more. Your comment so eloquently expressed. Thank you.

Hi Alaine,

Yes, we just need the spark of realisation - but it can be illusive!
