New Year Cheer

Camp David

I feel rather sad this morning as I pack the cards and decorations away. But that won't last long; there are three Birthdays to celebrate this evening! An al fresco barbecue under the stars!

Steven, yes, you must leave the lights up; that would be magic. We had the most violent storm near midnight on the 1st - blanket lightning, heavy rain and hail that went on for five hours! I went back to sleep with only the fan noise over the bed; the temp was still near 30C. Thanks for your wishes; we'll have fun!

Enjoy the birthday festivities, Alaine. I'm sure it will make up for having to take down the holiday decorations.

Hello Willow, some beautiful, red roses to warm your winter's day! The perfume of Camp David is true rose! It's wafting into my room.

I usually take the decorations down, a little at a time, so I am not totally assaulted with the chaange all at once. I don't put them up in early November, either.

Good that you have joyous festivities tonight!

Oh! I thought you were going away for a while! I'm glad to see you're still popping in now and then!

Like RNSANE I take the decorations down little by little, leaving the snowmen in place for longer...they help keep that warm feeling of Christmas!

Hi Alaine,

Hope the birthday barbie went well; you're just trying to make us jealous, right?!

RN & Wanda, I put them up about two weeks before and then wait until the tenth day is finished. Just remembered that the wreath is still on the front door...

Hi Susan, I thought I'd be gone longer but I found out so much about my Mother's side in just 3 days and will meet up with a second-cousin soon to glean more.

I can't help myself!

Well, Derrick, I WAS thinking about you poor souls shivering in the snow, lovely though it is! The sky was amazing last night!

Hello Lyn, we finished at a respectable time, 11pm; they had 3 little girls to get home. It was lovely sitting outside with just a candle and the stars lighting up the sky.

With a bouquet of roses like that, you'll hardly miss the decorations!
Happy Year, Alaine. xoT.
