Hair today, gone tomorrow...

The revenge of Samson!  Hubby says, "the difference between a good and a bad haircut is two weeks".  I rang yesterday and cancelled for another month.

It's one thing I loathe; visiting the hairdresser.  I sit in the chair and think, 'what am I doing here, I like it the way it is' but I know that soon it will become that 'in between' style that I just can't handle. Why do they cut too much off?  Why don't they listen?!!

alaine - that's a fair question - why don;t they listen? i'm luck because the women who cut my hair - i go to a ladies' salon - all know to play with my hair - what's left of it - to cut it above my ears, above my collar and then whatever works at the front. it's simple. my limited experience with women suggests that they have a vision of themselves that is difficult to convey to another person. hairdressers have a vision of what looks good on people. the two often don't match! grow it long alaine!! steven

I have the exact same feeling...and I am up for a trim this Wednesday. It takes my hair about two weeks to behave itself after a haircut! Good grief...life is hard and then your hair rebels!

Steven, you've summed it up so well. My problem is that I had long hair most of my life until about 15 years ago. I'm wearing it shorter these days because long hair on an older person really does drag the face down and I don't like wearing it up!

I am so glad that you wrote about this.I have tried so many different hair stylists and without success. I dread going for all the reasons that you have stated so now I don't.I havent been for four months.I have long hair so any one can manage to cut it easily ie except for a hair stylist. As an older person wearing hair that drags her face down I
find it infinitely preferable to the tortures of the salon

I'll never forget the young girl who turned me into Margaret Thatcher.

Firelight, it can affect one's whole day, can't it. Best not to look in the mirror, I've found.

Rallentanda, the tortures! They're the lead up to the end horrific result; lying there at the basin getting your hair pulled, shampoo in eyes, back screaming with pain.......

Willow, Oh no, not a perm!!!!! Hours wasted, head scorched, to end up looking like Grandma! I had my last perm (long hair) in 1988 and to make it worse, waxes were 'in', so I had a long, waxed revolting do for my daughter's wedding. I kept my hat on until midnight!

Oh, Derrick, the majority of women don't mind a bald pate! On a man, that is!!
