ANYONE HOME?

What curiosity! I'll have to show this to my daughter- the parrot lover. It's still hard for me to believe that flocks of parrots fly in the wild where you are when I spend so much energy and worry to keep Kate's birds safely inside. She has just clipped their wings again after letting them grow so that they could fly.

Hi Alaine

What a wondrous view from the desk you have...

My son was telling me last night that his butcher bird will now take food from their hands...
and can smell a sausage roll from far far away!!!

Your friendly white cockatoo might be tame do you think?

Happy days

Blackbird, we're so lucky to have these visitors daily.

Delwyn, we live in a glorious valley. The cocky is either tame or sickly, although it's eating really well. It's a 'loner', easily pushed around and goes under the cypress in the dry to sleep.

We have a butcher bird at the moment, although different to yours. I'll put a pic in my sidebar.

Hello Alaine,

A friendly and inquisitive fellow, to be sure. The butcher bird pic resembles a Kookaburra in shape. Would that be fair to say?

Thanks for your comments on my last post. Your father-in-law was a very fortunate man, even though the experiences must have been harrowing.

How could you resist inviting him in to sit on your desk? He's beautiful!

Aww. In that top left picture, he really looks as if he's saying, "Anyone home?"

Susan, I said to DMJ the other day that I just want to cuddle him/her - I say him, he says her.

Derrick, yes, that fluffed up pic takes on the shape of a Kookaburra; I preferred it to the slim pic. The Kookaburras are around too; they sit on the weeping cherry and do their dive-bombing!

Hi Alaine

your browny looking grey butcher bird is very rotund but look at that butcher's beak ready to skewer a juicy morsel...

Happy days

Tulsa, lovely to hear from you.

Tracy, I thought you were having a break!

Hi Delwyn, yes, our butcherbird looks browner but he's been eyeing off the little wrens and sparrows - they all take off when he appears!
