  1. I just love to see those cockatoos! We don't have those here unless they are found at the pet store. So beautiful!

  3. the galahs really have special personalities don't they...they are such daggy creatures the way that they walk ...your chick has a lovely bunch of pink head feathers...a good Melbourne cup look perhaps...I always think the fashions there make some of the wearers look like the proverbial silly galah.

  4. Delwyn...I call the Galahs 'magistrates' the way they strut around with their grey coats and 'wigs'. These young chicks are so cute, come right up to the back door and their call is so sweet!

I agree, the head wear on the news tonight for Derby Day were absolutely 'galahish'!!

  7. I always enjoy seeing them perched on the arched chairs, they most likely think they're provided especially for them. I think our doves think our small garden fence is there for their protection.

  8. Steven Cain....it takes all types in the bird world too; the little brown flitters and the glamorous exotics!

  9. steven...well, seemingly an horizon; the mountains have disappeared in the morning mist! We're all going to miss this view when we move back to suburbia!

  11. Galah's really are the embodiment of the Australian "Larrikin." They're an easy-going bird with a real sense of humour. I love them. I pet a baby galah when we visited our local breeder the other week. Wish I could see them in the wild. But we do have lots of baby lorikeets and noisy minors at my family's house, and they are gorgeous as well. Plus our two baby cockatiels who are nearly weened!

  12. Pandorash8...it's nice that you have two cockatiels to keep each other company...my son lost his cockatiel when his girlfriend left the door open!

  13. I'd heard the expression 'you great galah' but never knew what they actually looked like! They are much more beautiful than I'd imagined. And I do love your images of cockatoo dinner parties. :)

  15. Just fantastic Alaine! What beautiful birds! You're so lucky to have them just outside your house. I would probably spend most of the day sitting, watching and talking to them.....
    Beautiful!

    Warmest greetings,
