Cocky, what's happened to you?

I snapped this cocky a couple of weeks ago;
the crest was bright red
and when it went to raise it,
all of the feathers stuck together

I saw it again about a week later
and, after a lot of rain,
the feathers were washed out a bit
but still a bright pink

Funny that the colour
isn't anywhere else on its body

This time of year they get in to
the plums; maybe it's plum juice;
I don't like to think
of anything worse...

Thankfully, it's still with us

  7. Such beautiful birds. One of my favorites. I have always thought of them as the labradors of birds... such big personalities... so friendly. But then, I've only known a few. I'm sure there are some stinkers, too.

  12. MG...You're up late; hope you don't have that rattling wind tonight!

    Yes, hopefully plum juice. They gorge themselves on plums and it's a sight to see all these white birds against the red leaves.
